Structure of Zipper

TOP STOP

This blocking apparatus located separately on the two lines at the top end of the zipper, prevents the slider from getting dislocated when the zipper is zipped.

SLIDER

Slider is the section which connects or separates the teeth when the zipper is unzipped or zipped. There are various sliders depending on the field of usage.

TEETH

Is the part located on either side of the ribbon of the zipper which gets connected when moving through the slider. Connected form of the teeth is called a chain.

SIDES

Its ribbon is specifically manufactured for zippers. Usually made out of polyester however, depending on the field of usage, there are some which are made out of vinyl or cotton fiber.

PULLER

Is the handle located on the slider, allowing the user to move the slider.

BOTTOM STOP

Is located at the bottom end of the teeth and is produced and used to ensure that the zipper does not completely separate to either of the sides and the slider is not dislocated from the zipper.

CLOSED END

Closed end zippers have a structure ensuring the zipped/closed status of the zipper, located at the bottom end of the zipper and preventing the teeth from coming loose, they are usually observed on shoes and bags.

OPEN END

Lines of the zipper can be completely separated from each other. Slider is opened and closed by the bottom lock and needle mechanism. This type of zippers is usually used for jackets and coats.

TWO-WAY

Combi zippers are located at the third place concerning the separability of the zipper from the bottom end and are separate zippers with sliders connected to the bottom and top end. Since it has sliders on both of its ends, it provides the capability of double-sided usage.
